On Road to Recovery — Crawl, Walk, Run
Posted on July 26th, 2013 No commentsWhen I found myself getting an entry spot for New York City Marathon, I could NOT believe how lucky I was. After trying my luck with the lottery system for couple years, I had pretty much gave up the idea of running NYC in this life time already :-p. The odds and luck hasn’t been on my side, and the qualifying time is even tougher than Boston; therefor I did not even Read the rest of this entry »

On Road To Recovery – Baby Steps
Posted on June 3rd, 2013 No commentsApril 29th, I woke up in the middle of night from pain and felt my entire lower body was been pushed by two pieces of wooden clapboard from both side of hips, and I was frightened to sense that something was majorly wrong. Immobilized, I stared into the darkness, in pain and agony, knowing that I got myself seriously messed up this time and I needed to stop what I love doing – running.
Runners tend to take physical pain very well, and we pride ourselves Read the rest of this entry »

Two Weeks and Counting
Posted on February 16th, 2013 No commentsWho would have thought that journey to Tokyo Marathon requires hundred hours of training, thousand miles of traveling plus countless hours of losing sleep and crying one’s heart out?
A bit frustrated after the last 20ml long run on Sat, Feb 9th, so I started asking opinions and inputs from other runners. Not that I can change my Read the rest of this entry »

Three Weeks and Counting
Posted on February 9th, 2013 No commentsMonday Feb 4th, the race packet for Tokyo Marathon arrived via postal mail, and I had very mixed feeling while holding it. I was standing in the post office mail box lobby, and feeling a little bittersweet about this white envelope. It certainly made the race more real now, but at the same time Read the rest of this entry »

Kasier SF Half Marathon 2013
Posted on February 5th, 2013 No commentsMy training has not gone well after CIM, too short for a full training cycle and too long to treat it as a back to back race. The changes of race and travel plan has topped unnecessary pressure as well, and Read the rest of this entry »

Curve Balls
Posted on January 25th, 2013 No commentsThis Tokyo Marathon is approaching and several unexpected twists have taken place, out of my choice and control.
First it started with my travel plan; I have booked my flight with ANA back in early Dec. expecting the convenience of the new route flying out of San Jose to Narita Airport (Tokyo), and most importantly the excitement of being Read the rest of this entry »

Week 13 of CIM Training
Posted on November 15th, 2012 No commentsSunday Nov 4th, week 13 of CIM training, and I am having this “I am not ready yet” panic. Somehow I don’t see this season’s training is producing measurable and significant result — speed-wise; I just don’t feel that I am running any faster than beginning of this year and I Read the rest of this entry »
