I Lied

I promised myself, I won’t cry,
but tears kept on falling from my eyes,
as I hear your last goodbye…
I guess I lied.

I promised myself, I can handle it;
I can endure the pain,
as I watch you walk away…
I guess I lied.

I promised myself, I won’t stop you;
I won’t pull up your sleeves,
but why do my arms want to hold you?
and never let you go…
I guess I lied.

I promised myself:
I can look at you and smile;
I can even shake your hand and say,
“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine”
but why do my lips tremble,
can’t even utter a word,
as you turn away…
I guess I lied, it’s all a lie!!!
